Hollyoaks fans were left in floods of tears on Wednesday evening as Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) was killed in a hit-and-run incident.
Following a dramatic clifftop showdown with Summer Ranger (Rhiannon Clements), Brody and Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) were just about to confess their love for each other before a car appeared out of nowhere a knocked down Brody.
Sienna was left distraught at the heartbreaking news that her beloved Brody had passed away.
Adam Woodward, who has played Brody since 2017, has opened up about his final day on set with his co-stars including Anna Passey, who plays his on-screen love interest Sienna.
He told Daily Star: “Sienna is his soulmate which makes the goodbye and leaving that more heart-wrenching.
“I’m hoping all the material we filmed and the connection me and Anna have got as working partners really comes through on screen.
I hope the audience are entertained and devastated at the same time.
Discussing his last days on set at Hollyoaks, Adam continued: “Filming the death scene with Anna was a very emotional day.
“We also did the stunt that day so we spent a majority of that day filming the one scene.
“Both of us wanted to give the raw emotion that was there. It wasn’t just acting, it was emotion from me and Anna as individuals because it was our goodbye scene.
“The other difficult scene was the very very final scene I filmed which was when Brody went to see Damon [Jacob Roberts], Liberty [Jessamy Stoddart] and Faith is there, and that was him basically saying goodbye to them but it was also me saying goodbye too because that was my very last scene. A lot of that was real emotion.”
Adam went on reveal that his exit from the soap was a mutual decision between himself and Hollyoaks bosses and conversations had been in place for over 18 months.
“”I got quite excited actually when I found out that Brody was going to be killed,” he explained.
“The talks of Brody leaving had been in the pipeline just immediately prior to Covid so I’d say January 2020.
“We were talking about where Brody goes next and storylines and I expressed maybe it is time to wrap him up soon as a character.
“It was very mutual and then Covid hit and Brian offered me another contract and I was extremely grateful and I took it.
“When Lucy came and said they said they had a storyline to wrap up the character and he was going to killed off and I got excited because I didn’t want him to fizzle out.
“I wanted a full stunt put on his story and that’s what I got and that’s what the audience got.”
Adam admitted that he’s had to keep his soap exit a secret for a while and filmed his final scenes almost two months ago.
He said: “Even on my social media, I haven’t really been posting any pictures of me as I am at the moment because I stopped filming six or seven weeks ago so my hair and beard are longer now.
“I look a bit different so I didn’t want to give the game away.
“It has been difficult and I had to watch my words when talking about my character when I’m around people.”
Hollyoaks continues Thursday on Channel 4 at 6.30pm followed by a first-look episode on E4 at 7pm
