Strictly's Katie McGlynn dreads passionate dances as she says she's 'not sexy'

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn will be swapping the Cobbles for the Strictly stage as she attempts to win the Glitterball Trophy.

While the actress is ready to make the most of her time on the show, it seems some aspects of it has made her particularly nervous as she will need to get very close to her partner.

Although her Strictly coupling is yet to be revealed, with the partners officially being announced in Saturday night’s show, Katie is concerned about the particularly intimate dances.

Katie has said that she is “really awkward” and confesses she doesn’t consider herself to be a “sexy person”.

In an interview with Daily Mail, she confessed she’s hoping she will “morph into a different character” when the dances begin.

She added: “I’m most looking forward to the dresses, all the outfits, and I’m hoping I’ll stay in until Halloween because I love dressing up.

“As soon as I get my fake tan on and all my sequins I’ll feel like a princess.”

To hit her target, Katie would need to stay in for six weeks to be able to fly through to the Halloween show, which often sees wild dances and looks performed on stage – it’s certainly a fan favourite.

Just last night Katie posted a photo to state she had spent another full day filming for Strictly and said she feels like she’s “getting there”, while she asked her followers to “pray for her”.

Her Strictly debut will take place on Saturday, September 18, but the competition well and truly starts the following week as the beauty competes to land the Glitterball Trophy.

Katie announced her Strictly debut on BBC Breakfast as presenter Dan Walker was also announced as well.

She said at the time: “I’ve been so nervous, but I’m really excited for today because I’ve had to keep it secret for so long – I’m just relieved everyone knows now.

“I’m like Bambi on ice, I’m not a dancer, by the way!”

The beauty will join the likes of McFly’s Tom Fletcher, actor Robert Webbe, TV presenter AJ Odudu, and many other celebrity faces hoping to dance their way to success.
