The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson left everybody speechless when he was accused of having an affair in 2011.
At the time, Clarkson had been married to his second wife, Frances Cain, before the pair later split in 2014 while he embarked on a relationship with a colleague.
Doncaster-born Jeremy, 60, and Top Gear pal Phillipa Sage worked together for several years before their friendship escalated to a romantic relationship.
Sadly, their relationship came to a turbulent end in January 2017 and had a monumental impact on Phillipa’s life and mental health.
Phillipa has previously addressed their relationship, admitting she believed the pair would grow old together.
“We were all burned out and the stress of it all caused my worst breakdown ever, truly the lowest point in my life but it was to prove the glorious turning point,” she has said.
Speaking on the Driven Chat Podcast, Phillipa revealed that she and Jeremy remain in contact despite their troubled split.
Discussing their relationship, she said: “I think it was about seven years we were officially together, it was pretty intense and high speed.”
When asked about their current relationship, Phillipa explained: “We are vaguely in touch, yeah, but I’m pretty bruised by it so I don’t get too involved.”
However, Phillipa went on to admit that their break-up wasn’t as simple as some would hope for, explaining: “It took a long time for me to get over it because you can’t escape.
“Especially because he’s all over the place,” noted Jeremy’s vast media career.
Despite this, she does sit down and tune in to The Grand Tour, saying: “It’s really nice actually, now I can enjoy watching The Grand Tour because yeah, I was pretty sore afterwards because I couldn’t work with him anymore.
“I’ve moved on, I enjoy watching them all, they still make me laugh.”
Phillipa released a book earlier this year, documenting her memories of touring the world with Jeremy and his former Top Gear co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May.
Recalling an incident while the group were on tour in New Zealand, she explained that Jeremy and Richard had been staying on a secluded island but were not happy.
“They demanded that the board game ‘Risk’ was delivered to their hideaway as soon as possible,” she said.
She continued: “So, a helicopter was sent from the capital city Auckland to fly in a board game where players use ‘diplomacy, conflict and conquest’ to win for the two Top Gear presenters.”
