S Club 7’s Jo O’Meara has dished the dirt when it comes to the secrets behind her incredible two stone weight loss.

The 42-year-old completely transformed her lifestyle in a bid to become healthier and more confident within her own body.

She started by overhauling her diet as well as quitting smoking and drinking alcohol during the stay-at-home period and at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last month, she took centre stage on ITV’s Lorraine, surprising fans as she stepped out to reveal her incredibl transformation.

Speaking with Closer magazine, she explained that she initially began eating “rubbish” and drinking as coping mechanism to get through the frightening times as the virus circulated.

But this left her feeling sluggish and unhappy with her unhealthy lifestyle and so Jo opted to make changes.

The hitmaker realised early on that she was an “emotional eater” and so she swapped her favourite junk-food snacks for oats, fruit, eggs, salad and soya milk.

She told the publication: “I used to wake up every morning, especially when I was smoking, and just feel ‘urrgh.'”

This would lead to her gathering her own quiet thoughts for 45 each day because she just didn’t want to communicate with anyone.

Wanting to make a musical comeback with her new solo single With Love, Jo was determined to shift the pounds ahead of her song hitting the charts.

After years of failed fad diets, she kick started an easy and enjoyable gym regime that includes activities such as bodypump classes, trampolining and walks in her local woodlands with her 13-year-old son Lenny.

The Never Had A Dream Come True singer has kept to her routine but isn’t afraid to allow herself the odd treat either.

Jo confessed that although she’d stopped eating pasta, bread and cheese “all of the time” she would reward herself with a vegetarian pizza and Quorn Spaghetti bolognese.

In spite of ditching the booze, the band member does still let her hair down on special occasions.

After making such drastic changes, she explained: “I feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin, and I have a much more positive outlook, so I feel really lucky and happy.”
