Coronation Street's Georgia Taylor looks unrecognisable in throwback snap with co-star

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor looks unrecognisable in a throwback snap with her co-star Jennie McAlpine posted to Instagram.

The soap actress could be an entirely different person in the sweet photo as she poses alongside her on-set best friend.

Georgia, 41, best known as Toyah Battersby on the ITV soap, is seen beaming from ear to ear in the image taken backstage at the National Television Awards 13 years ago.

Her trademark blonde locks are nowhere to be seen in the photo from 2008, which dates back to her time appearing in BBC medical drama Casualty.

Instead, Georgia’s piercing blue eyes are seen peeking out from under a mop of extremely dark brown hair worn in a bob.

The photo also sees her wearing black nail polish and black jewellery to compliment her black and silver sequinned dress.

In contrast, Jennie – best known as Corrie’s Fiz brown – looks like she hasn’t changed much at all thanks to her trademark ginger hair.

Georgia poked fun at herself – and her make-up – as she shared the picture with her followers on the social networking site.

She wrote: “#tbt at the NTAs 2008 with my beautiful friend @jenniemcalpine She was there with @coronationstreet

I was there with Casualty and shockingly dark hair #passtheblusher.”

Fans are more used to seeing Georgia with her trademark blonde hair

Georgia first appeared in Weatherfield as Toyah for six years between 1997 – 2003.

She then exited the show for a lengthy 13 years while working on other projects before rejoining the cast in 2016.

Jennie has racked up an impressive 20 year run on the hit ITV soap, making her debut as Fiz in 2001.

Both actresses have regularly been seen hanging out together outside of work enjoying a close friendship.

Earlier this year Georgia admitted she found it hard being separated from her friends on set due to Covid-19 filming restrictions.

Jennie hasn’t aged much through her years as Fiz

She told PA: “We’re really used to it now. Because we wear masks in rehearsals, we only take them off when we’re going for a take, so you don’t get to see someone’s face until they say ‘action’, which is a bit strange.

“I’m not a party animal anymore by any means, but you miss the social side of it. When it’s a sunny day and someone says, ‘Let’s go for a drink after work’, or me and Jane Danson or Jennie McAlpine (my closest friends on set) can get lunch when we have a break.

“Those silly little things that make your day that bit nicer.”
