Bradley Walsh fans go wild as he fronts rival ITV and BBC gameshows at the same time

Beat The Chasers continued on Saturday night (2nd October), with a new batch of contestants taking on Jenny Ryan, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Mark Labbett, Paul Sinha and Darragh Ennis.

Master of ceremonies Bradley Walsh was on his usual sparkling form, but anyone who was channel surfing after 9pm may have done a double-take.

The revival of the classic game show Blankety Blank kicked off on BBC One, hosted by none other than – Bradley Walsh.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their joy and bewilderment.

“Great selection for Saturday night tonight. Wonder what to watch Bradley Walsh on Beat The Chasers or Bradley Walsh on Blankety Blank?” wrote one.

Another used a double Spiderman meme to make their point.

Fans went wild as Bradley appeared on both ITV and BBC

“Bradley Walsh is presenting a game show now on *BOTH* BBC One (Blankety Blank) and ITV (Beat the Chasers). Have the shortages in the UK extended to TV presenters already?” quipped another.

“On BBC1 now: Bradley Walsh quiz show. On ITV now: Bradley Walsh quiz show. Good to see him finally picking up some scraps of work,” said a third.

The presenter was recently announced as the new host of Blankety Blank

A fourth viewer wrote: “Blankety Blank has returned, and Bradley Walsh is currently simultaneously on the two main channels at once. It’s no wonder the pubs are full.”

Another saw an upside, saying: “Joking aside, if screening Bradley Walsh round the clock on all channels is what it takes for him conquer that Ant & Dec NTA, then SO BE IT”

Jimmy Carr appeared on Blankety Blank

Joining Bradley on the opening show, which saw one contestant win a Le Creuset dining set, was a celebrity panel including Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh; Jimmy Carr; Martine McCutcheon; Joe Swash; Chizzy Akudolu and Johnny Vegas.

Blankety Blank originally ran from 1979 to 1990, hosted first by Terry Wogan and then by Les Dawson.

Paul O’Grady – as Lily Savage – hosted a revival between 1997 and 2002.

Bradley seemed to be having a blast on the enjoyably chaotic first show. And yes, the iconic theme tune has returned and contestants still win the almighty Blankety Blank cheque book and pen.
