Peter Andre dealt devastating blow after hopes to visit family in Australia are dashed

Peter Andre has been left distraught after learning that he will still not be able to visit his family in Australia yet due to ongoing Covid restrictions.

This week the star got his hopes up of being able to finally be reunited with his mum Thea, 84, dad, Savva, 87, and sister Debbie when he saw news that Australia is planning to relax restrictions from November.

The 48-year-old took to social media to share his excitement that he would finally be able to see his loved ones in the flesh for the first time since February 2020.

He shared a news story whose headline read: “Australia rejoins the world: Country will FINALLY reopen its borders in November and allow vaccinated citizens to travel abroad and return home.”

However, his excitement was short-lived as he soon did some research and discovered that he wouldn’t be eligible to go Down Under anytime soon as the rule relaxation is only for Australian citizens.

Updating his fans, he reposted the headline again writing: “Oh no… It’s only for Aussie citizens, which I’m not” alongside a crying emoji.

Born in Harrow, England, Peter holds UK citizenship, despite later moving to Oz with his parents aged six.

The news will surely come as a blow to the Mysterious Girl singer after he recently shared his anxiety at being away from his elderly parents.

Speaking to MailOnline he said: “What if they need me? It is such an intense feeling.”

Peter explained that he usually would be able to fly out to Australia immediately if his parents needed him but that this had all changed due to Covid.

Peter added: “I speak to my dad pretty much every day. The only saving grace is that my sister is there.

“I know that everyone is in the same position and when you know that… I am not singled out. No one from here can go to Australia.”

“It is really difficult not knowing when I’ll be able to see them again in person,” he noted.
