Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant team up in reveal of new Doctor Who game for consoles

The first gameplay trailer for Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality has just been released, featuring series favourites David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker.

The video shows off the new game, which features classic Doctor Who villains like the Daleks, Weeping Angels, and Cybermen as well as new monsters and environments.

Like the long-running series, this first-person sci-fi adventure game does away with guns and violence and focuses on exploration, puzzle-solving, and storytelling.

Players must save reality from a series of time-busting glitches, a ‘Reality Virus’, that threaten to destroy the universe. It features new characters, levels, and even a cameo from beloved ‘Tenth Doctor’ David Tennant.

Players must save the universe while the Doctor is trapped at the end of time and space, communicating with you through intercoms, TVs, and other electrical devices.

Judging by the trailer, fans of the series can expect to encounter some iconic Doctor Who settings, even taking a Dalek for a spin. You can watch the first five minutes of gameplay here.

A follow-up to VR game The Edge of Time, the new Doctor Who game is being released for Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch and Steam on October 14th.

Fans celebrated last month at the news that former showrunner Russell T Davies will be taking up the helm of Doctor Who once more in 2022.

‘It’s A Sin’ writer Davies was behind the modern day reboot of the long-running BBC series, running the show from 2005 to 2010.

Davies said in a 2019 interview that he thinks Doctor Who is the hardest show to write on television.

“I’ve been there obviously and truly it’s hard to write because the Doctor is a billion times cleverer than the writer, he understands art and science and the cosmos and so on, he gets everything.”
