Liam Payne has revealed why he and ex-girlfriend Cheryl don’t want their son Bear to follow in their footsteps.
27-year-old Liam and Cheryl 38, had son Bear while they were dating in 2017.
The couple split up in 2018 after dating for two years.
Currently, they co-parent their four-year-old son together.
While visiting Heart Radio studios to celebrate Global’s Make Some Noise Day with presenter Mark Wright, Liam made a shocking confession about his son’s future.
He said: “Cheryl walked in the other day, and he was in his bedroom, it was about 9 o’clock, and he was supposed to be asleep – he’d set his iPad out on the floor, and you could see the little red line going – and she was like ‘what are you doing?’ and he was like ‘I’m recording a song, can you not see?’
“And he was going [sings] ‘like a sunshine’. So funny.”
Liam admitted Bear has the “music buzz” which scares him because he knows first hand “what that can do to you”.
He added: “You almost know too much from my side if you know what I mean, but I’d never stop him doing what he wanted to do and he absolutely loves [it].
“He went to rehearsal with her the other week for her show that she put on and he stole the microphone off, he went topless, he had the dancers dancing around. He’s obsessed with The Weeknd and Ariana Grande.”
Mark Wright suggested to the famous popstar that Bear is likely to follow in his parent’s footsteps.
Liam replied: “My dad was quite funny about it actually, cos we were like ‘we really don’t want him to be famous’ and my dad was like ‘well you’re doing a great job then’.
“Honestly, I don’t think we can stop him with that. I mean, it’s funny cos I sit with him on my production stuff that I do and, I’ll play something, and he’ll go, ‘no no, no no, watch me’.
“And then he’ll just bang out some little tune and he’ll be like, ‘that was by The Weeknd’.”
Later Liam was on Capital Radio with Roman Kemp and discussed his toddler some more.
Revealing that Bear is “super smart” and “super observant” Liam explained how Bear noticed his voice right away when watching Ron’s Gone Wrong, the animated film Liam stars in.
Liam explained: “One of the voices I did, I’m like an assistant at B-bot headquarters, which is like the headquarters that makes all these robots, and I kind of left my voice in just to see if he would twig,
“But I mean, he’s super smart. Like, we were watching Strictly Come Dancing, it’s the same venue that Cheryl uses to rehearse and he’s like ‘look Mummy, it’s your work!’.
“Like he’s super observant, so I’m having to watch everything.”
