Kate Garraway has shared she misses the way husband Derek Draper would “sing so loudly in the mornings”.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, has opened up about the things she misses that Derek used to do before his Covid battle.
Kate shared that what she misses most are “such little things”.
Opening up, she said that she missed: “The way he wouldn’t be able to do anything until he’d had his bath. The way he would sing so loudly in the mornings – and was generally just so loud! It would drive me mad.
“And now I would give everything I own to hear him being really loud and shouty and full of opinions, ruffling feathers in the way that he used to.”
Kate revealed that when Derek would irritate her, she would ask: “Why did you have to do that?” to which he would reply: “Darling, I’m the grit in your oyster.”
Former lobbyist Derek, 54, spent 12 months in hospital after contracting Covid in March 2020.
Derek is now home from the hospital with Kate and their two children, Billy and Darcey.
But despite being stable enough to come home to his family, Derek can barely speak or eat without the help of a feeding tube.
However, Kate did recently share that Derek is now exercising at home.
Presenting the Best Nurse gong at the Who Cares Wins awards, Kate offered the update on Derek’s progress to host Davina McCall.
She said: “He’s had a good day today, we did some exercises together before I came out.
“A day at a time, but today’s a good day. Thank you for asking, that’s really kind of you.”
Kate recently won an award at the National Television Awards for her documentary about Derek’s health battle.
Kate recently revealed that she was planning on doing a follow-up documentary on Derek’s health struggles.
But she recently admitted it was hard to find the time to film the programme because of her husband’s health condition.
“Derek has a very short window of energy, but we are trying,” she told The Sun.
