Piers Morgan takes fresh swipe at GMB’s Alex Beresford in Laura Tobin birthday message

Piers Morgan appears to have made another thinly-veiled dig at Alex Beresford in a cheeky birthday message to Laura Tobin.

Taking to Twitter, the former Good Morning Britain presenter – who dramatically left the show earlier this year – first appeared to be innocently wishing his former co-star well on her big four zero.

“Happy 40th Birthday to the fabulous @Lauratobin1”, he wrote above a snap of the GMB weather presenter parading her legs in a tight top and trousers.

The 56-year-old went on to call Laura a “brilliant meteorologist and possessor of [hot] leather trousers”.

“No apologies to any wokies offended”, he added in true Piers style.

Until this point, it all seemed perfectly normal, even if a little offensive to what Piers sees as the “woke brigade”.

Then it became apparent the outspoken Surrey-born TV personality was also grabbing the chance to have a dig at his old nemesis Alex Beresford.

Piers rounded off the post by saying Laura is a “thoroughly decent & loyal (ex) colleague – my kinda weather presenter”.

Some of his 8 million followers seemed to pick up on the reference straight away, swooping in with comments in no time at all.

“What about your other ex weather-related colleague, @alexberesfordTV?” asked one.

Others seemed not to get the less-than-subtle swing at Alex, with a second responding with: “Well it’s not his birthday, is it?”

A third really didn’t see the need to weaponise a simple message.

“Can you not just say happy birthday without making it about you?” she said.

Piers – who picked up the gong for Best Presenter at this year’s National Television Awards – has been engaged in an ongoing feud with Alex since March.

That’s when the pair locked horns live on air after Piers slammed Meghan Markle for the Oprah interview she did with husband Prince Harry.

The dramatic scenes came before the broadcaster got up from his seat and stormed off set.

Since then, Piers has taken a number of swipes at his former colleague – branding the 40-year-old a “deputy stand-in weather person” on Australia’s Today Show in June was just one of these.
