The Larkins viewers were left distracted from the ‘pointless’ Darling Buds of May reboot by the appearance of one children’s TV icon.
Though some fans weren’t impressed by the new series as Bradley Walsh took up the main role of Pop, many were left distracted by the appearance of one actor in particular.
Tony Gardner, who played Brian in My Parents Are Aliens, is playing Alec Norman in the new ITV show.
He starred as orphaned children’s Mel, Josh and Sophie’s new alien dad from when the series started until it came to an end in 2006.
Tony is also well known for his role as pervy Professor Shales in Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat, who begins a relationship with his student, Oregon, before effectively becoming her stalker.

Tony also went viral back in 2019, when a fan spotted him having a blast at Glastonbury Festival, where he was hilariously having the time of life while dancing around a leopard-print suit.
One attendee even managed to snap a hilarious pic of Tony staring at their camera through a crowd of revellers.
Taking to Twitter, fans couldn’t help but point out the link to their own childhoods, as one posted: “Just spotted Brian from My Parents Are Aliens in #TheLarkins!”
Someone else added: “Me – oh it’s Brian from My Parents Are Aliens! A few moments later – oh, it’s Peter Davison too! #TheLarkins.”
“‘It’s the dad out of My Parents Are Aliens. It’s one of the old Doctor Whos! It’s Bradley Walsh’s son! It’s him out of Cold Feet’. Me every time a new character appears,” another fan giggled.
Among other roles, Tony has appeared in shows like Last Tango in Halifax, Not Going Out and The Thick of It.

Fans were even more shocked when Bradley’s son Barney popped up in the show, with one writing: “I see Walsh has got his son a job!”
“Is that Bradley Walsh’s son?!” another fan questioned.
However, other viewers quickly branded the new reboot “pointless”, as one wrote: “Trying to keep open minded but so far can see no point doing another adaptation of The Darling Buds of May.”
Someone else said: “Is there really much point in doing a remake of this?”
However, others were clearly loving the programme, as one tweeted: “Ooh loving #TheLarkins on ITV! The actress playing Ma is practically identical in looks and voice to Pam Ferris who played Ma in The Darling Buds of May. Good effort, guys!”
“Why is everybody moaning about #TheLarkins? As a Kent woman, I’m loving it so far!” someone else chimed in.
