Jeremy Clarkson rages after spending hundreds on COVID tests that 'no one checks'

Jeremy Clarkson has said he is furious after spending a load of money on expensive COVID tests only for them not to be checked at airports.

The Clarkson’s Farm star and wannabe sheep and arable farmer “forked out hundreds of pounds” for tests so he could travel abroad but said that not one official looked at his documentation.

Clarkson, 61, also confirmed he has left the country three times since lockdown ended and not once was he stopped to prove he had a negative test.

He said: “This week, there were lots of exciting new rules about what sort of Covid tests you need to take when you’re travelling abroad, and where you can go, and what forms you’ll need to complete.

“But you needn’t worry about any of them.”

He continued, in his latest column for the Sun: “I forked out hundreds of pounds for tests. I filled in a million questionnaires. I downloaded apps.

“And I shoved countless prongs so far up my nose, I collected a tiny bit of brain matter, and so far down my throat I felt like Linda Lovelace.”

In order to travel to many countries, the rule is that you need to take a pre-departure antigen test and then another one before you board your flight back to the UK. Typically they cost about £50 each.

But desire government guidelines, Clarkson said that it was a waste of time and money.

He added: “Not once when leaving the country or getting back, did anyone stop me to check.”

In other news, Clarkson recently mocked Lewis Hamilton for his latest eccentric outfit ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion arrived at the Istanbul Park circuit on Thursday wearing a Burberry kilt and trousers combination along with sunglasses and a man bag.

This is the latest in a string of polarising outfits that the Mercedes driver has worn, after he recently attended the Met Gala wearing a net skirt and a see-through mesh shirt.

Again, writing in his column for The Sun, Clarkson could not resist mocking Hamilton’s choice of clothing as he wrote: “According to a report in yesterday’s Sun, the unusual outfit Lewis Hamilton wore as he arrived in Turkey, for this weekend’s Grand Prix ‘split opinion’.

“Hmmm. That would suggest there are some people out there who liked it. And I’m not sure there are.”
