I Know What You Did Last Summer cast now – death, co-star couple and stalker

I Know What You Did Last Summer was first released 1997 years ago today (October 17), to celebrate the success of the film and its iconic cast, we take a look at where they all are now.

This Halloween classic came out 24 years ago and featured some of the 90s’ biggest young stars, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jnr.

The popular teen slasher flick follows four teens as they are stalked by a hook-wielding killer in their seaside town.

It’s the kind of movie that you really needed to experience as a teenager yourself to truly appreciate, as it doesn’t have the wit or scare factor, like films such as Final Destination.

The cast members went on to do some other major projects and the film’s success lead to sequels of its own, titled I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.

So, what’s the cast of the ‘90s horror doing today? Well, quite a lot, actually, and you’re about to find out…

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Jennifer played Julie in the hit horror film

Jennifer Love Hewitt played Julie James in the movie and even returned for the 1998 sequel.

The stunning actress went on to Hollywood stardom and had major success in plenty of other films, and did at least one film a year during her heyday in the noughties.

Since then she has bowed out of the spotlight a little but still stays relevant with a variety of television roles.

She has starred on shows like Ghost Whisperer, The Client List, and Criminal Minds and currently plays Maddie Buckley on 9-1-1.

Jennifer, 42, is married to one of her The Client List co-stars, Brian Hallisay, also 42, and they have three kids: Autumn, seven, Atticus, six, and Aidan, who was born in September this year.

While Jennifer’s life is peachy nowadays, she she was “verbally confronted” by a woman posing as her friend.

The woman was arrested for stalking and saying death threats against both Jennifer and Steven Spielberg.

The accused pleaded guilty and was released on probation, on the condition that she would not contact either Jennifer or Steven.

Freddie Prinze Jr

Freddie was known for being a 90s hunk

Freddie Prinze Jr was one of the premier stars of the late 1990s and played Ray Bronson.

The handsome actor, 45, went on to star in a plethora of big movies and became a pin-up during his heyday due to his dashing good looks.

He starred in beloved teen rom-coms She’s All That and Summer Catch and reunited with co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar – who played Helen Shivers – in the live-action Scooby-Doo film.

The actor has secured multiple TV shows over the years, including appearances on Friends, Boston Legal, Freddie, 24, and more.

He also voiced Kanan Jarrus in the series Star Wars Rebels and is set to star in the Punky Brewster revival on Peacock.

Surprisingly, he has also dabbled in a pro-wrestling career with WWE too but quit to focus on becoming a producer and director.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar played Helen Shivers during the 1997 film, and 1997 really turned out to be a super year for the star.

The movie came out just months after the premiere of her popular series Buffy the Vampire Slayer hit the screens and blew up as a TV sensation.

In the 1999 cult classic Cruel Intentions, she reunited with co-star Ryan Philippe and then with hubby Freddie in Scooby-Doo playing lovers Daphne and Fred.

Sarah’s Buffy success lasted until 2003 and she had subsequent TV roles in The Crazy Ones, Ringer, and Star Wars Rebels.

Nowadays, Sarah and Freddie often spend time with their kids Charlotte, 12, and Rocky, nine.

Sarah actually didn’t legally change her name until five years into their marriage, but in 2007 became Sarah Michelle Prinze.

Earlier this year, she voiced support for her Buffy co-star Charisma Carpenter after the actress alleged she had been the victim of abuse on set from show creator Joss Whedon.

Ryan Phillippe

I Know What You Did Last Summer was actor Ryan Phillippe’s breakout role, in which he starred as Barry Cox.
