Michelle Keegan has recalled a time in her childhood when she had to scrounge for food from neighbours as her family was so poor.
It’s clear the former Coronation Street actress hasn’t always lived life in the fast lane, with lavish cars and a huge mansion.
During her childhood, the TV star recalled a moment where she would hurdle fences to retrieve goods from willing neighbours such as huge chunks of bread and ice cream.
Even her mum Jackie, who was a dinner lady at the time, would also serve up left overs that she’d swiped from school lunch service for tea time.
They were so strapped for cash that they would even steal crops from local farmers in a bid to make ends meet.
Remembering what life was like while growing up, Michelle explained to the Mirror: “I lived next to a lady and gent called Pat and Martin and I used to climb over their fence.
“I remember the bread they would give me. The cut was so thick it was like a door stopper.”
The Our Girl star, who is known for her role as determined Lance Corporal Georgie Lane, went on: “On the other side, I had Brenda and Barry and they used to get me ice cream with a Flake.
“I used to climb over the other fence to get my ice cream off them.”
Recalling the moment where she used to help herself to local produce, she added: “They used to grow lettuces, carrots and potatoes.
“We never used to go to the supermarket. We were nicking vegetables off that farmer. Climbing over fences getting food.”
Michelle’s life with husband and former TOWIE star Mark Wright is totally different now – with the pair recently purchasing their dream pad at the hefty sum of a reported £3.5million in Essex.
The pair haven’t yet moved in as their home is still undergoing major construction work as the famous couple revamp the entire plot.
Sharing the process with fans, Michelle and Mark – like many other celebrities – have been documenting the transformation process from start to finish.
While there is a lot of work to be done, the enhancement could prove to be quite lucrative for the pair who purchased the property for £1.3million in October 2019.
With the added adjustments, construction experts have predicted that their home could be worth a gobsmacking £3.5million after the extravagant renovations.
