Strictly Come Dancing’s Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice made it through to week five of the competition after opening the show on Saturday, performing the Cha Cha to Prince’s 1985 hit Raspberry Beret, with a total score of 27 from the judges..
26-year-old Rose Ayling-Ellis, who plays Frankie Lewis in Eastenders, is the first deaf person to compete in Strictly Come Dancing, while performing in the show’s nineteenth series with Giovanni Pernice.
After they danced, Rose and Giovanni headed backstage to talk with host Claudia Winkleman and the topic soon fell upon Giovanni’s new endeavour.
To help perfect their training technique, Giovanni has been learning to use British Sign Language to communicate with Rose.
Claudia asked”: “Giovanni you have been learning so much signing, can you give us a taste please?”.
Rose then mouthed some words for Giovanni to sign back to her, to which she approved and they shared a laugh. Twitter users were rooting for the couple and couldn’t get enough of Giovanni’s gesture.
One user wrote: “I could watch Rose and Giovanni interact all day. I just love them together.”
Another swooned: “#Strictly Giovanni signing. My heart is so warm. They have the best partnership!!! I love it!”
Rose was dripping in bright pink fringe in an aptly coloured ensemble, doused in sparkles wearing, of course, a raspberry coloured beret. Giovanni contrasted her in a blue velvet biker jacket, black shirt and trousers.
The Italian Strictly professional has been dating Love Island bombshell Maura Higgins for four months since they went public in July, but rumours have sparked this week as they deleted all evidence of each other from their Instagram accounts.
After noticing the absence of their steamy couple snaps, one fan tweeted “Why has Maura deleted her posts with Giovanni? Not the Strictly curse again”.
A source told The Sun: “It’s all over for now. Maura’s absolutely devastated, it appears the Strictly curse has struck again.
“Pals are hoping they can patch things up. But only time will tell whether Giovanni’s got the time.
“Maura has decided to take a step back and let him concentrate on the show.”
Speaking to Hello! about the ‘Strictly curse’, Giovanni said: “Maura is absolutely fine, in the sense that it’s not a curse, I’m going to dance with my celeb, and she will be supporting me all the way.
“Realistically, if you’re happy in your relationship there is no reason for the curse. If you’re happy with your wife or with your husband, you wouldn’t go on Strictly to cheat.”
