Mrs Brown's Boys' Brendan O'Carroll swears on air as he appears on The One Show

Brendan O’Carroll swore live on air when he visited The One Show.

The Mrs Brown’s Boys star joined his wife and co-star Jennifer Gibney on the BBC One sofa to chat about the iconic comedy series on Tuesday night.

It comes as the hit series will return to air with a one-off live Halloween special to mark 10 years since the show first premiered.

However, when Brendan got chatting about how popular his show has become with viewers over the last decade, the star came out with a rather rude word in the studio.

The One Show host Ronan Keating, who was joined by his co-host Alex Scott, wanted to know why Mrs Brown’s Boys has become such a hit around the world.

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll swore on The One Show when he discussed his classic comedy character

Leading man Brendan plays Agnes Brown in the comedy show, whilst his wife Jennifer has occupied the role of Mrs Brown’s daughter.

Ronan asked Brendan: “Brendan, you’ve taken a particular North Dublin humour and, you know – the Irish Mammy, it’s been an international hit.

“What do you think it is? What’s the attraction?”

Brendan explained: “I think it’s – first of all, she’s hard as nuts,” Brendan began. “As all of our mammies were because they had to be.

Brendan said his leading role of Agnes Brown can be a ‘b**ch’, but he spelled out the word rather than saying it in full

“I think there’s two things; she’d help you bury a body, you know if she had to.”

He then went on to explain his character’s notorious ways, and he managed to slot in a swear word in front of the cameras during the chat.

He said: “Although she can be a B, I, T, C, H sometimes, she just loves her kids.”

Ronan and Alex appeared to let the expletive slide as they let him continue his moving answer about his famous character.

Brendan continued: “She absolutely adores her kids and adores her grandkids.

“And I think that’s a redeeming factor for her, she’s full of love. And her best friend is her best friend, and will always be her best friend.

The actor began getting emotional as he concluded: “There’s a loyalty there to her. I just – she cuddles me inside”.

Ronan spotted how much his character meant to him as he pointed out: “I can see it actually moving you right now.”

Brendan laughed before they went on to chat about the upcoming Mrs Brown’s Boys special.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
