Presenter Cat Deeley is turning 45 and to celebrate her milestone birthday, we take a closer look inside her private family life.
The former Stars In Their Eyes host crossed the Atlantic to take her career over to US soil in the noughties but has since returned to plant her family life back here.
The stunning host now lives in London with her famous husband Patrick Kielty and two young sons Milo, five, and James, two.
And while the family is happier than ever, they were once caught up in a terrifying gun ordeal.
So, let’s have a closer look into what goes on behind Cat’s closed doors…
LA mansion
Cat made a big career change in the noughties and left the UK TV world behind as she set her sights on bigger pastures overseas.
The bombshell moved to Los Angeles to pursue bigger presenting jobs and travelled there with her comedian husband.
During their LA stay, the family lived in a jaw-dropping £3.8million home which was listed on the market last year.
The star couple moved across the pond and bought the property for £2.1m in 2006.
Since being over in the states, the loved-up couple had their two sons and transformed the property into their ideal family home.
The luxury pad boasted an office, a gym, a pool and a spa, which Cat often shared a glimpse of on social media.
Back to London
Cat officially returned to London in 2020, after living in the US for 14 years.
Since then, fellow presenter and Irish comic Patrick revealed a first look at their new London home’s beautiful living room on social media.
Patrick took to Instagram shortly after moving in during September, in honour of Cat releasing her first book, titled The Joy In You.
It is believed Cat chose to come back to her roots in order to be closer to her family.
Speaking to YOU magazine late last year, Cat said: “We made the right move at the right time.”
“They have grandparents who want to see them. Also, we didn’t think it would be fair to start Milo in school in America then lift him out when it suited us in a few years’ time.”
Gun shock
During an interview with Stella Magazine in July 2019, Cat recalled an awful incident where Patrick and her eldest son were caught up in a shooting at a shopping centre.
Cat told You magazine: “I got a call from Paddy, saying, ‘They’re taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us?’
“He wanted to keep Milo calm, so I didn’t understand the enormity of what was happening. As I was driving I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and Swat squads.”
She also admitted that American gun laws pushed her to consider leaving the US permanently, with the idea of school shooters terrifying the parents.
She continued: “Fear was part of this. There was a moment when I was with a friend looking at potential schools for Milo and we had to ask the question nobody wants to: ‘What do you do if there is a live shooter on the premises?’… The danger suddenly becomes a reality.”
Family time
Now the adorable family are settled into their new North London home, the famous couple are able to spend more quality time with their extended family.
Cat has revealed that the grandparents of their children have been “big help” in making the transition back to British life easier, as they are always willing to lend a hand with their kids.
She said: “Grandparents are helping out big time, they are loving it it’s brilliant. The kids love them and the fact they get treats and Jelly Babies all the time…”
Not that the boys often play up, as they are both incredibly sweet and often conduct sweet gestures to their mum.
Cat recently posted a snap of her eldest son Milo as he presented her with a cute message which she rushed to share on social media.
Although she and her husband don’t often share family photos on social media, Cat can’t resist sharing the occasional insight into their lavish life.
Now Cat and Patrick have settled down in London, the television presenters have been giving glimpses into their cosy abode showing off stylish interior and a big garden which boats its own trampoline.
Happy Birthday, Cat!
