This Morning has been slammed by viewers online after they welcomed SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton onto the show.
It comes after Channel 4 announced they had sacked the former special forces agent from the hit reality show earlier this year due to his “personal conduct”.
Ant joined This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary for a catch up on Friday to talk about his new book and upcoming tour.
But it didn’t take long for viewers at home to slam the veteran online as they took to Twitter to share their views on the controversial guest.
One user questioned: “Let’s have Ant Middleton on This Morning whose idea was that!” as another agreed: “Wow This Morning giving Ant Middleton a platform? Interesting choice.”
A third tweeted: “Isn’t Ant Middleton that pr**k who made controversial comments on the coronavirus pandemic and Black Lives Matter?”
A statement about the future of the television star’s with broadcaster Channel 4 said: “Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins.
“Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again.”
Reports have suggested that the company’s decision to cut ties with the 41-year-old originated from a now-deleted tweet last year in which the Hampshire hunk referred to Black Lives Matter protesters as “absolute scum”.
The tweet was in relation to the “extreme left” and the English Defence League’s “extreme right” after they took to the streets to protest following the death of George Floyd.
Ant later apologised for the post and told fans he has always been “anti-racist and anti-violence” after he deleted the post and claimed it was his decision to walk away from his breakthrough TV show.
The star has since moved on from SAS: Who Dares Wins and has recently been filming an Australian version of the show down under.
Since he joined the team, he has hit out at the “UK cancel culture” after he thanked his loyal legion of Australian fans for embracing him and accepting him as “one of their own”.
