EastEnders' Maisie Smith to join Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after soap exit

EastEnders actress Maisie Smith has reportedly signed up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in her first TV gig since leaving the BBC One soap.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 20, who quit her role as Tiffany Butcher on the soap earlier this month, will join a group a string of stars on the gruelling military themed reality series, which sees stars tackle tough training courses and harsh environments.

A source told The Sun: “Maisie wants to show there’s another side to her beyond the sweet Tiffany she’s been known for playing since she was six.

“She got a glimpse of life beyond EastEnders in Strictly and enjoyed the freedom.

“She’d signed up when she told ‘Enders bosses she was leaving and can’t wait to get stuck in and prove her grit. She’s determined to give a good account of herself but knows it’ll be tough.”

Rumours also suggest that Maisie will be travelling to the Isle of Raasay in the Hibrides in Scotland to film in the coming weeks.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Maisie would be departing EastEnders after 13 years in the serial drama.

Maisie joined the BBC soap at the age of six in 2008, but decided to leave after reportedly getting a number of big money offers for other projects.

She recently said: “It’s time to say farewell to Tiff! I’ve grown up on EastEnders since 2008, and have learnt from the best over the past 13 years.

“I’m very excited for my next challenge and thank the BBC for the opportunity they gave me as a six-year-old.”

EastEnders’ Executive Producer Jon Sen added: “We are all very sad to see Maisie leave.

“She’s been a wonderful company member during her time at EastEnders and it’s been a privilege to see her blossom into the star she is.

“She has created an iconic character in Tiff and the door is always open to her return. We wish her all the very best for her future projects.”

Maisie has reportedly previously been offered six-figure deals with clothing and beauty brands following her successful Strictly Come Dancing stint, however her contract with the BBC meant she had to decline them.

The most recent series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins saw Alexandra Burke, Love Island’s Wes Nelson and Paralympian Aled Davies become the only stars to pass the course out of the 12 who took part.
