Ed Sheeran’s one-year-old daughter has tested positive for Covid-19 just days after the singer confirmed he had contracted the superbug.
The 30-year-old, who welcomed baby Lyra Antarctica in September last year, revealed the two are now isolating together for ten days until the virus passes. The singer also revealed his wife Cherry, 29, tested negative for the bug.
The Bad Habits hitmaker said: “I’m self-isolating with my daughter. I have been alone with her, without my wife, since we are both positive. I am now going to spend 10 days alone with her.”
He added to the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column that there’s definitely a positive to the situation, pointing out: “Sometimes I am away and spend just two days a week with her, so being able to be with her for 10 straight days is great.”
The British musician, 30, took to social media on Sunday to announce his diagnosis, which comes just days before the release of his latest album, =, which is set to come out on Oct. 29.
On his Instagram page, Sheeran shared a message to explain his upcoming absence from interviews and performances in the upcoming weeks.
He shared that while he cannot be there in person, he will do his best to participate virtually.
The star said in a statement: “Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.
“It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house.
“Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone.”
He was due to perform on American sketch show Saturday Night Live on November 6, with producers reportedly scrambling to find a replacement.
In August, Sheeran announced that his fourth studio album would arrive on Oct. 29 and unveiled his 14-song track list, which includes his recently released single Bad Habits.
The new album was written and recorded across London, Sweden and Los Angeles.
Sheeran described the new collection as “really personal.” He said his life changed in the past few years after his marriage to Cherry Seaborn, as well as the birth of their daughter.
This is the first child for Sheeran and Seaborn, who have known each other since childhood and attended high school together.
