Gordon Ramsay has been flogging wine by the glass for £950 a pop.
Diners at his Petrus restaurant in London get just 125ml of plonk.
He’s also offering a glass of the same 2002 vintage for £380 but guests get just 50ml of the pricey liquid – the equivalent of a double measure of spirits.
The eye-wateringly expensive grog is the revered French red Petrus – after which he named his eatery – and he also flogs a bottle of the 1982 vintage for a staggering £13,500.
Salt Bae has been roasted for flogging £1,450 gold-encrusted stakes and £11 cans of Red Bull at his new London Nusr-Et venue but diners at the telly chef’s restaurant have also moaned about the sky-high drinks prices.
Diners pay £100 for three courses at the Belgravia Michelin-starred restaurant or £125 for the prestige menu but guests really pay through the nose for booze with diners given a 66-page wine list to browse on an iPad.
Reviewer David said on TripAdvisor recently: “We were handed a tablet which according to the waiter had 66 pages of wine to choose from. (We were only there for dinner and not an overnight stay and yes it did run to 66 pages!).
“The price for a bottle of wine, John Duval Plexus White 2019 was £60.00 which is one of the least expensive on the wine list – too large a mark up on this.”
“As I wanted a beer to quench my thirst before eating I asked what was available. They only serve Schiehallion which is great although at £8 per glass a rip off, this is in addition to £6 for a bottle of still water.”
Another person wrote on the site: “My husband and I have been for many Michelin star meals and we were thoroughly underwhelmed.
“Whilst the taste of the food was lovely, the portions were so small that without bread in between we would have gone away hungry.
“Alcohol was ridiculously expensive too, half a bottle of red £48 and champagne was £28 per glass.”
On its website, the restaurant describes itself as: “Set between Belgravia and Knightsbridge, Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay is a Michelin starred restaurant serving exceptional modern French cuisine.
“With a spectacular circular dining room boasting a floor-to-ceiling wine cellar at it’s heart, Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay offers exquisite wines from across the world, including vintages from its namesake Chateau Pétrus.”
