Now that the official launch date for the 2021 series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has been announced for November 21, things must be finally feeling real for the so far mysterious line-up of campmates.
But one person knows better than most what to look out for when it comes to shipping out to Gwyrch Castle in Wales for the new series, after Covid-19 restrictions laid waste to plans for an Aussie return.
Not only was Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding a contestant in the 2015 series of the show, but she has a grave warning for upcoming celebrities on the show, as the castle setting is “100% haunted”.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, Yvette explained: “Wales is a hotbed for paranormal activity.
“They have the most amazing ghost stories, and I don’t know what it is – whether there are lots of converging lay lines – but there seems to be this amazing whirlwind of energy.
“The castle that they’re staying in is definitely haunted, 100%! I’d love to get my hands on it and spend the night there myself, but I wouldn’t wanna be with other celebrities – only the nice ones!”
Yvette explained that certain celebs during her own series “ruined” the experience for her, explaining: “There were two bad bits.
“The boredom, which you don’t see, and obviously the insects, which were horrendous. Brian Friedman got woken up at five in the morning with a snake in his sleeping bag, and we had a black widow spider just crawling by where we were all sat.
“Just so many creepy crawlies! Every time I went to bed at night I would cocoon myself in my sleeping bag and make myself a little breathing hole.”
But Yvette’s worst part of the experience? Spending time with celebrities who were “up themselves”.
She explained: “Most of them were just lovely. I still speak to Jorgie Porter – she’s just so lovely.
“But obviously others were not, and actually ruined part of the experience for me. I can’t bear these celebrities that have these big egos – I just think, ‘Who do you think you are? You’ve got no right to play the big I am or talk down to anybody, you are just like everybody else – get a grip!’
“I can’t stand celebrities that are so up themselves. I don’t know whether Covid has brought a few of these people back down to earth – because they needed to be!”
She went on: “They put my teeth on edge. I can’t bear that kind of person.”
Among Yvette’s campmates that year were socialite Lady Colin Campbell, TOWIE star Ferne McCann and eventual winner Vicky Pattison from Geordie Shore.
But Yvette admitted that her “best bit” of her own I’m A Celeb experience was “losing a stone in weight”.
“That was fabulous!” she admitted.
However, she won’t be watching this year’s group of campmates, as she admitted: “I don’t watch telly.
“Well, I watch loads of documentaries. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found I’m really into UFOs. I watch a programme called Ancient Aliens on the History Channel, and I just spend a lot of time reading and writing really.”
