Strictly's Claudia Winkleman mortified over Amy Dowden's bizarre cooking hack

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman has been left utterly mortified by professional dancer Amy Dowden.

The duo were discussing the positive news that Tom Fletcher and Amy sailed through to the next week after an impressive performance on Saturday night.

After chatting about Tom’s weekly list from Amy about his improvements, Claudia moved the conversation to the fact that Amy received some odd fan mail last week – a spatula.

Claudia said: “So Amy, you’ve been receiving a lot of fan mail including a spatula – can you tell me about that?”

Amy said: “It’s because my cooking is not great, but this should improve my pasta dishes so thank you!”

Tom immediately chimed in and said: “She didn’t know how to strain pasta!”, though Amy immediately stated that it wasn’t true.

However, Claudia was distracted by an earlier comment as she added: “Can I just interject and say you don’t use a spatula for pasta on any level!

“I’m not Nigella but I’m giving you that!”

Many fans were left confused about the interaction entirely, with one user writing: “Anyone else need some context about Amy Dowden’s spatula and not being able to strain pasta? ‘Cause same.”

Another said: “Amy and Tom arguing over how to make pasta is the highlight of my life.”

Although fans were certainly confused over both the use of the spatula and the discussion to begin with, many were simply happy that Tom and Amy were through to next week.

Hours before Sunday night’s show Amy also gave a sneak-peek from her training with Tom as the duo shared that former Strictly winner and bandmate Harry Judd joined in to watch their training.

Amy shared a snap of herself, Harry and Tom and wrote: “Thank you Harry Jude for the surprise visit for Tom Fletcher this week in rehearsals.

“He was the first to see our paso and gave Tom all the confidence and words of encouragement he needed!”

Clearly the confidence boost worked, as Tom will be throwing his hat in the ring once again next week for yet another impressive performance.
