Emily Ratajkowski says a boyfriend “forced himself” on her when she was just 15, in her new book My Body.
The model and actress, 30, says she wishes she had howled at the “tops of her lungs” when the 16-year-old, who she refers to only as Owen, allegedly struck.
In an upcoming book of essays, she said: “Why did my 15-year-old self not scream at the tops of her lungs? Who had taught me not to scream? I hated myself. I didn’t tell anyone what had happened that weekend with Owen.
“That was non-consensual sex. I was so young. I hadn’t even had sex before.”
London-born Emily also raged that the modelling industry is bursting with sexual predators.
Emily has been working on the book of essays for some time, with the deal first announced in October 2020, and as her book nears its release into the public domain, readers are learning more about the famous model.
Speaking to USA Today, Emily said: “I wanted to offer something that I can’t show on my Instagram: the complicated truths behind the power you receive as something to be looked at.”
She added: “There are so many things and so much power to be gained from becoming a model or woman who uses her sexuality and image to succeed.”
However, she was hit with self doubt despite her strong exterior, with the model writing in her book: “On a good day, I’d call people sexist who condemned a woman for capitalising on her body.
“On a bad day, I’d hate myself and my body, and every decision I’d made in my life seemed like a flaring mistake.”
As a model who has worked in the industry for many years, Emily decided to put her truth to paper and state experiences from her own perspective.
One of which hit the headlines earlier this year, was claims that Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke groped her while she was filming for his music video.
She claimed that following the alleged incident, she moved away and looked back at Robin Thicke who smiled a “goofy grin”.
Emily wrote: “I didn’t react – not really, not like I should.”
The model claimed her head “turned to the darkness”, while adding that the director Diane Martel yelled, “Are you okay?”, as she shrugged and “avoided eye contact”.
The alleged incident is one of many reported by Emily Ratajkowski, who also also focuses on body positivity and “taking control of your own narrative” in her book.
