Former Eastenders star Danniella Westbrook, best known for playing recurring character Sam Mitchell on Eastenders from 1990 to 2016, was glowing in an Instagram post she shared with her 74.4k followers.
Actress Danniella wore a navy fedora style hat with a black top and a camel cardigan, looking very chic whilst posing with her hand on her chin, showing off her crimson manicure, and thanked The Restaurant Bar and Grill for her ‘birthday treat’.
She also posted a quick snap with her blogger friend Ryan Mira, both all smiles for the camera on her special day, captioned “Swollen but out of the hospital…happy birthday to me #birthdaygirl.”
Danniella, who began acting in Eastenders aged 16, recently shared a post saying “Tomorrow is not promised”, with the full message reading: “Tell someone you love them today. Because tomorrow is not promised. To my family and my friends, I love you.”
The former Eastenders actress tagged her daughter, son and mother in the touching message.
This sparked concern with her fans as she was recently held in intensive care, believed to be due to an infection, after which she was eventually transferred to a regular hospital ward.
Last month Danniella revealed that she had relapsed, writing: “It’s no secret since leaving rehab I’ve slipped […] I’m done with the drinking, the occasional packet and night out. I’m totally over it.
“I know the best years of my whole adult life were the 14 years I spent clean and sober […] So today I’m saying, ‘Hello, I’m Danniella and I’m a recovering drug addict.'”
She came under scrutiny in the late 90s and early 00s for her drug habit which led to Westbrook’s character being written out of the Eastenders script on numerous occasions.
Daniella’s heavy drug use caused her septum to collapse and erode and she eventually underwent reconstructive surgery. She also had facial reconstructive surgery earlier this year, a problem caused by drug abuse and botched surgery that led to osteoporosis.
Danniella took to Instagram yesterday to share that she is currently penning her new book.
She shared a post that read: “Sometimes you don’t actually know how traumatic something you went through is until you talk about it […]”.
Westbrook wrote underneath: “We all experience this at some point, some of us more than others, which has prompted me to start writing my third autobiography.
“Each one has been ten years apart and I have been extremely fortunate to reach many people with the last two being best sellers…”
