Peter Andre opens up on mystery illness which forced him to pull out of shows

Peter Andre is said to be recovering following a “really nasty bug” that caused the reality TV star to miss performances of Grease the musical last month.

The Mysterious Girl singer, 48, recently talked about his mystery illness that left him the “most ill” he had felt in three years.

He first missed an on-stage performance of Grease at the Opera House in Manchester when he was due to perform in October.

The father-of-four has been touring with the new production of Grease, starring in his roles as Teen Angel and Vince Fontaine, which he first played back in 2019.

The I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star shared an insight into his illness in his column for New! Magazine.

Andre declared he did not have Covid-19 after his PCR test came back negative.

He said: “I’m sure some people thought I should get a grip but it was a really nasty bug.”

The performer did not want to let his fans down who had already bought tickets to see the shows but his daughter, Princess, had previously told him on an Instagram Live last month to take a test as a precaution for Covid-19.

Peter previously wrote in NEW! on how horrible he had been feeling as he suffered coughing fits and aches.

“(It) became public knowledge when I walked into the kitchen while Princess was doing an Instagram Live – I thought she was on TikTok.

“Me and my road manager Carl were talking about how I wasn’t well and everyone heard what we were saying in the background!” the star wrote.

Peter’s manager had advised him to take caution as to not spread any illness to close cast members, who may also be made to take time off in turn.

He also had to miss his son Junior’s debut single launch but sent his support instead.

The star had spent half term with his family and is now said to be getting stuck back into Grease.

The production, choreographed by Arlene Phillips, is set to visit Liverpool, Cardiff and Leeds later this month.
