Piers Morgan has branded Meghan Markle “fork-tongued” as he lashed out at the Archewell charity’s plan to combat so-called fake news.
Prince Harry penned a post on the Archewell website this Monday (November 15) as part of his role as a commissioner on disinformation for the Washington D.C. based Aspen Institute.
He wrote that the organisation had set out a list of “15 specific recommendations for leaders to consider adopting across the public, private and non-profit sectors.”
In his article, Harry calls for a “new proposal regarding social media platform immunity”, “increasing social media transparency and disclosure” and ideas to “reverse the collapse of local journalism and the erosion of trusted media”.
Clearly not happy with the “solutions” that are said to resolve “superspreaders” of lies, Piers took to Twitter to hit out at the Sussexes.
Posting a row of cry-laughing emojis for his almost 8million followers, Piers wrote: “Start with your fork-tongued missus, mate.”
However, other social media users weren’t quite as on board as Piers, as they slammed his cruel comment in the replies section.
One wrote: “You never stop right? Isn’t this turning into an obsession Piers?”
Someone else followed up: “I am begging you, take a day off. I’ve told lies, you’ve told lies, almost every adult on the planet has told lies and if anyone says they haven’t, they’re lying.
“More importantly, in this instance, it doesn’t bl**dy matter. Politicians lying matters. Maybe. Celebrities, no.”
As a third echoed: “Living rent free in your head, isn’t she?”
However, others seemed to agree with his assessment, as one said: “I’m sorry but this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages! Harry talking about fake news! Blimey!”
“Isn’t this the same Prince Harry who claimed that Charles had cut him off financially?” someone else wondered.
It’s hardly the first time, and not even the first time this month, Piers has taken aim at Harry and Meghan.
Earlier in November, he raised an eyebrow over the Archwell’s vow to “reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030”.
He took to social media to share a comic of a plane flying over Glasgow for the COP26 summit with the words ‘net zero’ trailing out of its exhaust.
Piers’ accompanying tweet read: “Did they pledge this from aboard Sir Elton’s jet or the Clooney one?”
