Johnny Depp and Amber Heard marriage drama to be aired in two-part documentary

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s marital issues will be aired in a new two-part documentary which is set to tell both sides of the story.

Their marriage saga has been a hot topic for the past few years, after domestic violence claims on both sides, with fans finally getting a clearer insight of what really went on.

The documentary will be in two parts, the first telling actor Johnny’s side and the second focusing on actress Amber’s.

Johnny, 58, and Amber, 35, have been legally battling it out for the past few years and have both denied each other’s claims of domestic abuse.

The series will be called Johnny vs. Amber – supposedly telling the story from both of their perspectives – according to Deadline.

Production company Optomen is running the project which will be eventually released on Discovery+.

Archival footage will be included in the doc, also with added interviews from people who know both parties, along with lawyers who have represented them in court.

Talking about the doc, executive producer Nick Hornby said: “Through the tapes, home videos and text messages shown in court, these films give viewers a rare and important insight into a marriage that went tragically wrong, and to better understand the hugely important issue of domestic violence.”

The former couple’s legal battle has been going on since she filed for divorce in May 2016 after just 15 months of being wed.

Shortly after she filed for divorce she accused her ex of domestic abuse and managed to secure a temporary restraining order against him.

Johnny has strongly denied the claims but suffered a major blow in 2020 when he lost a libel case he had filed against The Sun for branding him a ‘wife-beater.’

The High Court judge eventually ruled that The Sun’s allegation was ‘substantially true’ which led to Johnny having to pay £628,000 in legal fees.

He did attempt to appeal the ruling, however, he was turned down in March.

Johnny is also suing Amber for libel over a Washington Post op-ed where she said she was a victim of domestic violence.

Amber made a counterclaim against him as she accused him of trying to hurt her career, with both sides still ongoing.

Over the course of their feud, she has included photos of herself with bruises and scars and he has provided photos of himself with facial injuries.

Last year, DailyMail.com obtained audio recordings of Amber admitting to ‘hitting’ her ex-partner and to hurling ‘pots and pans’ at him.

She could be heard saying: “Hit you across the face in a proper slap, but I was hitting you, it was not punching you. Babe, you’re not punched.”

The recording was made on her phone consensually during an informal two-hour ‘therapy’ session.

She also mocked Johnny for fleeing their argument, calling him “such a baby” and taunting him by saying “grow the f*** up”.
