Ex-doctor Harry Hill admits he wanted patient to be dead so he didn't have to save him

Former doctor Harry Hill once wished a patient had died – because it would mean less paperwork.

He said the incident made him realise he “wasn’t cut out” for the medical profession.

In his book Fight! Harry, 57, said: “I guess my lowest point as a doctor… was when I was running across the hospital car park at 2am to a cardiac arrest, thinking, ‘I hope the patient is dead when I get there.’

“If I was successful… I’d have to stabilise him. I’d have to start him on some medication, keep him under observation, send off blood tests, maybe get an X-ray… and then there was the paperwork.

“If he dies, it’s a quick scribble in the notes (time of death, etc) and back to bed. All done in 15 minutes.”

Harry Hill has opened up on his career as a doctor – and made a startling confession

Harry added: “Was I a bad doctor? I don’t think so.

“Once I got there, faced with a dying man, the adrenaline would kick in and I’d do my best.”

It comes a week after Hill showed off his genuine piece of Simon Cowell’s classic blue jeans which he claims has “aphrodisiac properties” and proudly displays in his house.

The 57-year-old joined Sam Quek and Jermaine Jenas on The One Show on Tuesday evening to discuss his upcoming book tour for his latest autobiography titled Fight!

As he discussed his upcoming book tour, the comedian revealed he has a framed piece of the X Factor judge’s jeans, which he joked had to be kept in a frame because “if you touch it you may become pregnant”.

While the doting dad reflected on some of his best TV moments throughout his comic career, the star explained how he came to own the infamous trousers of Simon Cowell.

He told viewers: “When I did the X Factor musical, we got a pair of his jeans because they wanted to copy them for the actor.

“And so I got hold of the jeans and I cut it into two-inch squares and mounted onto these bits of card as gifts for all the cast, so the whole cast got a piece.

“Somebody has got the zip which has particularly powerful [aliments]. I have touched it for luck and it cures all sorts of other things like humps, and cold sores.”
