Amanda Owen, who has often faced her fair share of criticism since being in the public eye, has said she has always had the mindset that she will never “change”.
Writing in an article for The Times, Amanda said she has “refused to change to please other people” since becoming a parent.
The Our Yorkshire Farm star said that none of her children have ever been issued a detention despite her never going to a parents’ evening.
The shepherdess explained that if any of her “marvellous” kids got a detention, they’d have to find their own way back from school.
The school is a whopping 30 miles away from Ravenseat Farm, where the TV family live.
Amanda wrote: “If there’s an issue, we’ll resolve it; and they are absolutely marvellous kids – not one has had detention.
“If they do, they’ll know they will have to find their own way home, which is 30 miles away. Can you imagine the deterrent?”
Fans recently praised all the Owen children in the finale of the latest series, calling them “wonderful”.
Youngest child Nancy has just become the last of her siblings to head off to school for the first time – leaving her parents alone in the house for the first time in decades.
Amanda went on to discuss how all the kids know how to milk a cow, and how she has recently taught them how to find field mushrooms.
She detailed her nightly routine – describing how she goes for an evening run before her children’s bedtime – which usually involves them reading or being outside in pyjamas if the weather is good.
Afterwards, she’ll often find herself preparing packed lunches for the morning.
It comes as the Channel 5 star slammed the idea of “sexing up” her life for the family farming show, saying if she was to do that she’d “lose what it’s about”.
Amanda said: “It is a family-run farm at the end of the day, so when it came to filming, it made absolute sense to hand over that control to the children.
“For us that is the real focal point, that is the bottom line, because the minute you start sort of sexing things up, then you’ve lost what it’s about.”
Our Yorkshire Farm recently aired its season finale – and fans are desperately hoping there will be another one.
