Christine McGuinness put on six stone during pregnancy and opens up on 'biggest regret'

Christine McGuinness has opened up about her “biggest regret” during her first pregnancy.

The 33-year-old model and TV host husband Paddy McGuinness are parents to eight-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and Felicity, five.

In her new book A Beautiful Nightmare, Christine explains that she wishes she took more photographs when she was pregnant the first time round.

She said: “It’s sad looking back because when I was pregnant with the twins, I barely took any photographs of myself. It’s one of my biggest regrets.

“I struggled with the size of my body and I put on six stone during pregnancy.

“Now, I’m in a different frame of mind. I’m so proud of my weight gain, and I managed to carry them until full-term. I also had really healthy babies, and both were good weights.

“I’m so proud of my body for achieving that. And I needn’t have panicked, because the weight dropped off afterwards.

“Most importantly, I realised the female body is incredible. And when I got pregnant again with Felicity, I really embraced it and took photos almost every day.”

Christine recently appeared on Loose Women and reveals how she plans to tell her three young children that they have autism.

The TV personality was diagnosed with autism herself earlier this year and says it’s put her in a good position to explain the condition to her children.

She said: “When we do discuss it with them, at least now I can say ‘You’re just a bit like mummy. It’s not going to hold you back. Mummy’s working. Mummy’s married. Mummy has a family. You are capable of all these things.'”

Christine went on to say: “And I think we need to address while we are here as well that obviously autism is a huge big massive spectrum. I don’t define an autistic person, and my children don’t.

“There are those that really, really do struggle with many, many challenges.

“There are autistic people who may not be able to talk yet. There will be families out there who are still waiting to hear their children say ‘Mummy’.”

Christine was told in August that she was “high up the spectrum”, having scored highly on a questionnaire measuring for the condition – just like her three children.

She explained that herself and Paddy, 48, decided to test themselves as they questioned why all three of their kids were autistic.

The TV personality details her diagnosis and in her new autobiography.
