EastEnders fans were left in hysterics as they watched the entire square poked fun at Peter Beale’s missing Christmas tree.
During Friday’s instalment of the popular BBC soap viewers were treated to another round of tree-based puns as Ian Beale’s son continued to point the finger at who chopped down the festive tree.
The businessman made a point of running around the town questioning residents in an effort to work out who the vandal was.
But fans couldn’t help but laugh at his flustered appearance as several characters used the opportunity to pull out their corniest jokes throughout the show.
During Thursday night’s episode Mick Carter and Janine Butcher combined forces to bring down the Peter Beale as they hatched a plan to steal the huge tree from the town square.
The pair initially planned to outbid the businessman in sponsoring the festive tree but after he learnt of their antics, Peter made sure to outbid them at the last minute.
In an effort to get revenge on his cruel act, the pair waited until nightfall when the pair donned all black clothing before they nipped over the road with an axe.
After they chopped down the tree, the pair managed to carry the tree back to the pub without being spotted.
But Peter had a sneaking suspicion that the pair were involved with the missing tree as hundreds of pine needles led from the Square to the beloved pub.
And residents took the opportunity to show their witty side as characters shouted tree jokes throughout the entire episode while a sulking Peter scowled in the corner of the pub.
While watching the hilarious interaction on the show, viewers took to Twitter to share their own puns online.
One user penned: “Eastenders are really branching out with the tree jokes at Peter Beale,” with two cry laughing emojis.
Another added: “The jokes in tonight’s episodes are tree-mendous.”
While a third asked: “Why is this Christmas tree thing so funny!”
