Strictly pro Dianne Buswell's life – Emmerdale romance, naked snaps and career U-turn

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell may have had to pull out of this year’s competition due to the ill health of her celeb match Robert Webb – but she’s already getting stuck into rehearsals for the Christmas special.

Dianne has been paired with First Dates maitre’d Fred Sirieix – though it looks like she could be struck by another form of Strictly curse, as he too has been injured just days into rehearsal.

The star took to Instagram showing a grisly picture of his foot, bleeding through his socks after dancing with Dianne, explaining: “This is what happens when a frog dances with a kangaroo!”

To celebrate her election to the Christmas special as the Strictly final draws nearer, we take a look into Dianne’s life away from the cameras – from her huge career U-turn to her romance with Joe Sugg.

Health woes

Of course, Fred isn’t the only one of Dianne’s dance partners to be struck down with illness this year.

Her previous partner, comedian Robert Webb, was forced to pull out of the competition after undergoing open heart surgery two years ago.

Robert went for an urgent consultation with his heart specialist after experiencing symptoms associated with the intense workouts that make up Strictly, and it was recommended he pull out of the show.

The Peep Show star said of his departure: “It became clear that I had bitten off way more than I could chew for this stage in my recovery.

“I’m proud of the three dances that Dianne Buswell and I managed to perform and deeply regret having to let her down like this.

“I couldn’t have wished for a more talented partner or more patient teacher, and it’s a measure of Dianne’s professionalism and kindness that I was able to get as far as I did.”

The 49-year-old, who previously soared to victory during Let’s Dance for Comic Relief, said he had perhaps been “too eager to impress” his fellow heart patients, who had supported him throughout the process.

Sad split

Dianne’s soap star ex Anthony Quinlan appeared to take it well when the pair split after 10 months and subsequently when she announced her romance with Joe Sugg.

The Emmerdale star – best known for playing Pete Barton from 2013 until 2020 – told Daily Star at the time: “We’re still really good friends – it’s just distance played a part. There were all these rumours about the Strictly curse but it wasn’t that.

“I’m actually rooting for Joe and Dianne. They’re doing absolutely amazing in strictly and I still think the world of the girl. We were really close, it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Dianne’s rep also announced at the time: “Due to their busy schedules and the distance they have separated but they still remain close friends” – with a source adding to The Sun: “Everyone on set’s been discussing how close [Dianne and Joe had] become. It did not go unnoticed by Anthony.

“She’s having a lot of fun with the show at the moment and is enjoying spending time with her dance partner Joe.”

Sweet romance

The more traditional Strictly curse struck Dianne back in 2018, when she was partnered with Joe Sugg – the brother of Zoe Sugg, AKA Zoella.

In October that year, reports came that Dianne had split from her Emmerdale star boyfriend Anthony Quinlan after 10 months together – and she was soon spotted attending a red carpet with Joe on her arm.

It wasn’t until December 2018 that the pair went public with their relationship, with Joe announcing: “I may not have won the Glitterball, but I’ve won something a million times more special”, alongside a sweet snap of the pair gazing into each other’s eyes.

The pair have since moved in together, with Joe even travelling to Australia to meet Dianne’s family for the first time.

Speaking of their future plans, Dianne told Hello! Magazine earlier this year: “I’m quite an unorganised person actually, Joe and I don’t really talk about that kind of thing [marriage].

“We’re both so relaxed so we just play it by ear. We really enjoy each other’s company so much and whatever happens, happens.”

Family plans

However, the pair have revealed that they have one future target in mind – having kids.

This month, Dianne opened up to Women’s Health that the pair definitely have babies on the brain after performing some extensive renovations to their stunning home.

She told the publication: “Joe is the most supportive person.

“I’d love to have a family one day, and I know Joe would love a family too. That would be our dream one day.”

Stunning home

The home Dianne shares with Joe is certainly the perfect place to start a family.

The pair live out in the countryside together, with a huge garden and terrace featuring an egg chair, plenty of sunbathing spots and a huge lawn.

Her kitchen, meanwhile, features forest green cupboards and shiny black tiles, with a stainless steel range oven taking up space in the centre of the room.

The pair recently underwent an extensive renovation in their stunning home – with the furniture alone setting them back almost £3,000.

Dianne constructed an in-home gym with a Peleton Tread, resistance bands, weights and yoga bands.

The bedroom, meanwhile, features bold yellow feature walls, a watermelon bedspread and tonnes of yellow cushions – along with an incredible lamp in the shape of a robot.

Career U-turn

Though Dianne began dancing at the tender age of just five years old, she actually began with a very different career path in mind.

Before becoming a professional dancer, Dianne was a hairdresser – something she pays tribute to with her incredibly bold looks over the years.

However, she hasn’t turned her back on her past life entirely, as she now hosts a podcast on BBC Radio 1 on which famous faces meet up with her in a virtual salon.

Dubbed Di’s Salon, Dianne seems in the perfect position to host it – especially as she regularly shows off her incredible hair transformations on social media.

From neon pink highlights in her iconic scarlet tresses to an incredible blonde transformation, Dianne really can pull anything off.

Donning a blonde wig for her Instagram followers, Dianne wrote: “And today we went for honey blonde. This was a longer wig but I gave it a haircut so it sits more at shoulder length!”

Naked snaps

Dianne isn’t afraid to flaunt what she’s got – and, in a selection of daring snaps, she posed completely naked for her legions of Instagram followers.

The Strictly pro stood proud on the stairs at home with her bare legs and arms visible in the snap, along with the top of her collarbone.

Cheekily, Dianne had boyfriend Joe holding up an eggplant to serve as an impromptu dress to cover most of her body, with some fresh kale acting as a disguise for her legs.

She held up a cauliflower handbag and decorated her ears with kale to resemble some makeshift earrings, with her red hair swept up into an artful bun.

The post was in promotion to food company Oddbox, with Dianne hilariously writing: “AD How aubigenius is this dress! And my earrings are kale’in it! Not to mention that Edgy veggie handbag!

“Ready for a night on the dance floor turnip the beets.”
