Faye Winter's fuming mum slams Love Island 'lie' while daughter defends show

The mother of Love Island ‘s Faye Winter has taken aim at the ITV show over the way her daughter’s row with Teddy was allowed to unfold.

Her mum Jan spoke out about ‘that’ row with Teddy on the ‘Things I Told My Daughter’ podcast for Fabulous magazine.

The Season 7 contestant meanwhile told the podcast that her relationship with boyfriend Teddy wouldn’t be how it is today if the explosive argument in the villa had never happened, according to DevonLive

Faye shared that she didn’t apply to show herself and that producers approached her on Instagram first.

She said: “I was in a really good place and I thought ‘you know what we’ll go for the audition’ and see what happens, probably won’t get in but it’s all fun and games.

The 26-year-old explained that throughout every step she didn’t believe she was going on — right up until she was packing her suitcase, and telling her family and job.

She said: ” I never went onto Love Island for it to change my life, I loved my life before. It wasn’t me going onto Love Island because I wanted a clothing deal or to move to London, because I love Devon. There’s not one part of me that would want to move to London. I went on there genuinely for the right reasons.”

During her time on the show, Faye met her current boyfriend Teddy Soares and the pair placed third in the finale.

However, it wasn’t plain sailing for them as Faye received a postcard that showed Teddy kissing another girl during his time in Casa Amor, which she didn’t know was part of a game.

Her mum, Jan, said on the podcast that when the postcard was sent into the villa she contacted someone on the show outing it as being untrue.

She said: “As soon as that postcard went through, my hackles went up. I text the girl ‘that’s a lie’ because I knew how she would react to it, at the end of the text I said ‘I hope you think that’s worth it’.”

The woman then responded to the text that there were mental health people working on the show that was looking after her.

Jan continued: “That wasn’t the issue, there was a lie that went through and it escalated, so then when she hit the panic button and started screeching and shouting, that’s what she does but usually she can run.”

Once Faye received the postcard and the boys returned, the islanders were shown clips of their time there which resulted in Faye exploding at Teddy in a swearing row throughout the villa.

The episode resulted in Ofcom receiving 24,763 complaints from her outburst, a record number for the ITV2 reality show.

However, Faye explained that if that argument had not happened, her relationship wouldn’t be how it is now.

She told Peta that while it wasn’t one of her “proudest moments” during her time on the programme , it also helped her let her guard down in the early stages of their relationship.

Faye stated she would never hold the affair against ITV and it brought more positives to her life and her growth.
