Strictly Come Dancing’s John Whaite may still be planning on dancing his way through the quarter finals on Saturday, but he’s needed to take some time away from rehearsals.
The star left rehearsals earlier than intended and in a snap he shared on his Instagram on Tuesday he confirmed that he needed a day of rest.
As he took a snap of himself in the back of a car, he wrote: “Going home to rest. My hip flexors are in so much pain and the physio has recommended a day of rest.
“I’ll watch Christmas films all day and eat haribo.”
It wasn’t the first hint John had left that he wasn’t feeling too well, with the star confirming he had help from a physiotherapist over the weekend too.
After the show, the physiotherapist Jen Nash shared a snap of John and his professional partner Johannes Radebe after their performance.
Sharing the photo, John wrote: “This gal Jen Nash performed so much physio on me over the weekend because all those lunges and lifting Jo has knackered my hips. Thank you Jen!”
Jen responded as she said: “You are so welcome John! You smashed it. Good luck this week.”
It seems John isn’t letting his injury stop him from competing as it looks like he’s instead just taking a minute to recuperate.
Following his success from the show last weekend, he shared a snap to Instagram to celebrate his time on the show, writing: “I’m loving every second of this glittering madness, and to know there are people at home watching, dialling and voting is truly humbling.
“Thank you, from the bottom of my mesh-clad velvet heart.”
John and Johannes will join Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu, Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington in the quarter finals.
John and Johannes made history after becoming the first male same-sex pairing on Strictly.
Prior to their pairing, John told The Mirror that he really wanted to pair with Johannes and said it would be “really important for him”.
The duo were eventually paired up and have proven to be a successful pairing on the show – but do they have what it takes to take home the glitterball trophy?
