Quick witted Rufus Hound has advised this years Dancing on Ice contestants to “ask for more money” after he was booted off of the programme.
The comedian, 42, was forced to quit last year when he’d tested positive for coronavirus, which came just two weeks after he’d astounded the judging panel with his wacky Super-Mario performance.
While Rufus speaks fondly about his time on the show, he couldn’t resist landing a number of hilarious quips about his time on the programme coming to a premature end.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Rufus was asked what his advice would be for the latest hopefuls.
And without a moment’s hesitation, the TV star replied: “Ask for more money.”
Speaking about his swift exit from the ITV programme, he joked: “No actually, it would be to buy a ventilator and don’t take it off.”
Rufus had been partnered with professional skater Robin Johnstone, with the pair earning themselves a golden ticket from the judges.
This would have acted as a fast track to the third week in the competition without facing the public vote.
However, their position was later jeopardised when it was confirmed that Rufus had come into contact with someone who had Covid-19.
The former television presenter was struck with further bad news when he later tested positive for coronavirus and was forced to quit the show.
Addressing his exit, he told Daily Star: “In terms of getting coronavirus, it came from someone I could not have avoided.
“It wasn’t that I wasn’t wearing my mask or didn’t wash my hands. I caught it from someone that I literally could not have avoided.”
Rufus wasn’t the only celebrity on the ITV programme to have an early departure.
Producers took the decision to bring the final forward to March 14, rather than March 21, due to a lack of celebrities as many had been injured or forced to drop out due to Covid.
At the time, a show source told The Sun: “Everybody is absolutely gutted that it’s come to this.
“But ultimately, due to injuries and shooting the show during a pandemic, they’ve been left with no choice.
“They can’t compromise on the quality of the programme, so in order to keep it to the high standards that everyone expects, they’ve decided to trim the series by a show.
“It means they’ll get to give all the skaters and celebrities a proper semi-final and a grand finale they all deserve.”
