Alison Hammond apologises as she 'breaks' This Morning set after throwing nutcracker

Alison Hammond showcased her clumsy side as she joined her co-host Dermot O’Leary on Friday’s instalment of This Morning.

The 46-year-old branded herself as a “klutz” after she “broke the set” just moments after the pair went live on the popular ITV show.

It was the first time the dynamic duo had seen the studio since it had been transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

As the show started, the TV presenter got a bit too excited when she sat down and knocked the statue off of the desk as she admitted she had “thrown” and “smashed” a nutcracker on air.

At the start of the show, Dermot grimaces as the camera panned to show the poor nutcracker on the floor before Alison profusely apologised about the broken doll.

Mortified with her actions, she addressed the problem at the start of the show and told viewers: “I’ve literally just thrown over the nutcracker, let me get it. It’s actually smashed.

“I’m so sorry, I got all enthusiastic and look what I’ve done.”

As she excitedly sat down at the desk, the mum-of-one flung the statue across the room

She added: “I came into this beautiful studio and it was all Christmassy and I’ve already broke something. I’m the biggest klutz. I’m so sorry.

“I went let’s have a good show, and thin I literally flicked it off and broke it. I’m so sorry everybody. Chris who did the whole set I am so, so sorry.”

But it’s fair to say the ITV bosses didn’t mind the unfortunate accident as they showed their funny side when the duo returned from the ad break to show the injured nutcracker no bandaged up with plasters on its legs.

Grateful to see the little statue in better health, she announced: “I’ve got some exciting news! They have actually fixed the thing I broke earlier, I am so, so sorry.”

They also took to Twitter to complain about her clumsy nature as they tweeted from the This Morning official account: “Alison, you’ve been I the studio five minutes and already broken the set!”

And fans couldn’t help but chuckle at her on air blunder as viewers took to the popular social media platform to share their thoughts online.

One viewer penned: “I love Alison Hammond so much. She makes me cry with laughter I adore her.”

Another fan of the show chimed in with: “Oh Alison, you make my day,” while a third reassured her: “No need to worry, it was an accident.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am.
