The Chase star Mark 'The Beast' Labbett says fans always want selfies in the toilet

Fans pester The Chase star Mark Labbett for selfies when he’s in the toilet.

The TV quizzer says he cannot go anywhere without being recognised.

He revealed: “People always want photos with me. I don’t know why, but they do. It has become part of the job.

“I get asked for selfies in the toilet quite a lot. When that happens, I generally say, ‘Can you wait until we get outside please?’.

“People come up to me when I’m shopping, too.

“People often ask me trivia questions on either football or capital cities and ­generally I get them right.”

Mark, nicknamed The Beast because of his TV persona, is thrilled fans love him because it is helping to make him a rich man.

He added: “When people ask for selfies, it’s nice ­because it shows they like The Chase.

“And when I’m doing the PAs I make a fortune from ­ ­doing them.”

The 56-year-old has become a household name after 12 years on the daytime ITV quiz show.

He said: “We get such good ­figures. We are behind Corrie and Emmerdale, but we’re ahead of EastEnders.”

Mark has been a TV star for a decade

Since June this year Mark has also appeared on ABC’s version of The Chase in the United States.

Prior to this, he appeared as the sole chaser on GSN’s American version and between 2016 and 2020, he appeared on the Australian version of the show as one of six chasers.
