Pop superstar Ed Sheeran almost killed close pal Sir Elton John filming their new Christmas tune.
Ed was terrified he mistakenly kicked a gift with a bell in the direction of the icon, narrowly missing his head.
Describing the momentous moments on the duet of Merry Christmas, Sheeran said: “I almost killed him with a bell on the video.
“I’m dressed up as a sort of sexy Santa Claus and I kick a present, but the present had a big metal bell on top of it.
“I showed him the footage of it today because we slowed it down, and the bell flew past his head and would have cracked him in the head.

“Oh my gosh the horror that went through my body when it was flying through the air.”
The accident left Ed a little shaken up, but he still had a great time on the shoot.
“But man, the music video is wild,” he said.
“We parodied old great British music videos that came at Christmas, I am the little boy from The Snowman, I’m Shakin Stevens, East 17 and Wham Last Christmas.”

Ed got the inspiration for the song last year.
He added: “I’ve got a voice recording of it from Christmas day, last year, I feel like that is the time you feel most Christmassy.
“I never thought of making a Christmas song.
“It is always the type of thing that I thought I would do when I was 60.
“My manager said he would retire if I made a Christmas album.

“To be honest if it was not with Elton I would not be doing it.
“I’ve always wanted to work with him and this made most sense.”
Profits from the single of Elton and Ed’s song go to his AIDS Foundation and arts funding.
The release comes after Sheeran spoke about teaming up with Elton for a Christmas song during an appearance on The Tonight Show last month.
