Jack Whitehall terrified old stand-up material will ruin his mega-bucks Hollywood career

Jack Whitehall is terrified his old stand-up material will cost him a mega-bucks Hollywood career.

The toff, 33 – worth around £30million – also said he wishes the first part of his stand-up career “didn’t exist in public” as he finds his old self “objectionable”.

He added: “It is terrifying to be doing these big family movies for Paramount and Disney, knowing that I came from a different era of stand-up, before the culture wars and historic tweets.

“When you’re 19 you don’t really think much about what you’re saying. You just say anything to get a laugh, so you don’t have to stand up to silence for five minutes.”

Jack, whose most recent film role was alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Jungle Cruise, said: “I wish that first part of my career, when I was finding my feet and working out what I wanted to say, didn’t exist in public.

“Sometimes I catch a clip of myself back then and I’m so objectionable. I cringe at my voice, which was this affected East End version of myself.

“But also the nature of the stuff I was saying. I punch down. I’ll make crass jokes that I would never make now.”

It comes after Jack revealed Glastonbury Festival is “one of his favourite places on the planet”.

The comedian, who recently appeared in a Netflix documentary called Travels With My Father, is a regular attendee at the world-famous event.

Glastonbury Festival welcomes more than 200,000 music fans to Worthy Farm every June, but has been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic.

Despite not visiting the event for two years, Jack revealed in a recent interview with the New York Times that he believes it is the “seminal festival experience”.

The TV star said: “It’s one of my favourite places on the planet.

“I think it’s the seminal festival experience, and I love that it doesn’t feel that commercial or cynical.

“There’s a great charitable element running through it.”

Mr Whitehall added: “I will always endeavour, no matter where I am in the world, to get back for Glastonbury.

“Even when I was filming ‘Clifford’, I managed to somehow wangle my way into getting onto a flight and going back for three days of Glastonbury, and I was just floating.

“I was ecstatic before, during and after.”
