Nick Cannon has revealed his five-month-old son has sadly died after battling a brain tumour.
The American comic made the devastating announcement on The Nick Cannon Show on Tuesday to inform his loyal legion of fans and his supportive audience that his son Zen had passed away.
As he broke down on stage, he explained that the little one’s health took a turn for the worse around Thanksgiving as his tumour began to grow at an alarming rate.
He went on to share how he spent last weekend in California with his son where they took a trip to the ocean so that the doting dad could hold his son one last time.
He explained: “Over the weekend, I lost my youngest son to a condition called Hydrocephalus … brain cancer.
“It’s tough. And I have my therapist here, who’s been helping us through it.”
During the show he went on to give some background to his son’s illness which started to show signs at around two months old.
Initially, Nick and model Alyssa Scott, thought the tot was suffering with a sinus issue as they noticed his head seemed a little too large for his age.
When they took him to the doctors, the medical professional said fluid had started to build up in his head before they discovered the tumour which required immediate surgery.
Prior to the tragic announcement, both parents kept their son’s health out of the media until after his passing.
Zen is Nick’s 7th child, with four of his blossoming brood born in the last year and a half alone.
The Masked Singer host shared a photo of the sleeping newborn to his Instagram Stories at the time.
He introduced his 5.3 million followers to his son with the caption: “Introducing Zen Scott Cannon ‘aka Z Chillin’.”
The stand-up comic shares nine-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott with his ex-wife Mariah Carey who were married for eight years before they split.
