America’s Got Talentstar Skilyr Hicks has died aged 23.
The young singer-songwriter died on Monday after being found in the home of a friend, reported her mother Jodi to TMZ.
Jodi revealed she doesn’t know the actual homeowner where her daughter’s body was found in Liberty, South Carolina.
However, she was “found lifeless in the home of a friend,” it’s been said.
The exact cause of death is currently unknown but Jodi explained how Skilyr battled with mental health issues including depressing and substance abuse.
The young artist was described as being loved by her family and four siblings.
Jodi told TMZ that she used her music to help people in need.

The mother added: “She will live on through her music.”
In 2013, Skilyr auditioned for America’s Got Talent at just 14-year-old where she impressed judges, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Howard Stern and made it through to the next round.
In her audition, she showcased amazing vocals and her guitar-playing skills.
During her debut, she performed an original song that had a heartfelt back story landing her a segment on TV.

A few years before she auditioned the young star lost her father and reportedly taught herself to play, write and sing following his death.
Skilyr confessed: “He made some bad decisions and I hadn’t seen him in a few years.
“The last time I saw him I remember driving away and he was crying.”
She continued: “After his funeral, I wrote my first song.

“It’s kind of like a message that came too late for my dad, but I know if he could see me now he would be really proud of me.”
However, after winning four yes’s at her audition she was eliminated shortly after before making it to the live rounds of the show in New York City.
Following her reality debut, she ran into legal trouble and got arrested for underage drinking in 2018.
Skilyr also spent some time in jail after allegedly roughing up her family, TMZ previously reported.
