Alison Hammond teases career change as she's cut from This Morning hosting gig

This Morning host Alison Hammond has hinted that she may be making a huge career change, teasing that she’s looking to swap her hosting duties for a more political role – and it’s safe to say that her fans are backing her.

The 46-year-old star joked that she’d be up for stepping away from her TV career and into No10 Downing Street in a bid to become the next Prime Minister

Taking to Instagram and Twitter to announce the news of a potential career U-turn, Alison wrote “Statement !!!” on Instagram, and posted a photo of her tweet which read: “So I’ve thought long and hard about this, I’ve decided to apply for Prime Minister! I feel I would do a grand Job. Thoughts???”

Fans of the TV personality and presenter were overjoyed with her announcement, pledging their votes and getting excited over what the country would look like should Alison win seats over the country.

One said: “You’d get my vote missus!!”

A second follower wrote: “Please do. I think the vacancy will be coming up shortly.”

Another said: “Well this would be Iconic! Every PM Minutes to be held at the pub or in some sparkly restaurant!”

Alison teased the career U-turn when she took to social media to notify her fans

“Imagine your laugh echoing the halls of Parliament and downing street!! Much better than the rah rah’s with their wine and cheese,” joked another.

A fifth commented: “If only!!! How awesome would the world be!!!!”

This comes after she and Dermot O’Leary have been axed from today’s episode of This Morning (December 10).

The Friday duo will be taking a backseat whole Santa makes an appearance on the morning TV show to speak to children, alongside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

While hosting on Wednesday, Phillip explained that Father Christmas would be making a special appearance on the show, before teasing that he would be hosting the show alongside Holly.

He said: “Quick word about Friday’s show, which we’re doing, he’s in high demand at this time of year but Father Christmas will be taking a break from his busy schedule to answer your children’s questions.”

Holly added: “Whether they’re wondering if Rudolph really is his favourite Reindeer or if he prefers mince pies or cookies by the chimney, it’s their chance to speak to the actual Santa.”

Holly and Phil rarely work on Fridays, so fans were confused when they announced the news.

Alison will likely be back on the This Morning sofa with Dermot next Friday, so, sadly, it looks as though she won’t be moving into No10 any time soon.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
