Dancing On Ice’s Brendan Cole shares enchanting clip with partner amid injury chaos

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro and Dancing On Ice 2022 contestant Brendan Cole sent fans into meltdown as he shared a magical behind-the-scenes clip.

Brendan has been partnered with Vanessa Bauer for the ITV competition, which will see the duo compete against A-listers including Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays star Bez and Love Island’s Liberty Poole.

In the enchanting clip, filmed in black-and-white, the dynamic duo can be seen facing towards each other as Vanessa drops a shawl and goes to wrap it around Brendan’s arm as they pose with their limbs forming an X between them.

Surrounded by what looks to be a green screen and cameras, it looks like the pair were filming for their programme introduction.

Brendan explained in his caption: “Behind the scenes with @vanessabauer_skates on an awesome production day surrounded by some very talented people. Loved being back on set.”

And it looks like the pair are getting along splendidly, as Vanessa was quick to respond: “Thank you for making these studio days the best ever.”

They don’t like to be parted either, something Brendan made clear when Vanessa posted a cheeky clip of herself skating on an empty ice rink.

She penned alongside the clip at the Slough Ice Arena: “Got the whole ice rink to myself, what a dream!”

And Brendan replied: “How could you skate without me partner?” with crying and winking emojis.

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the pair, however, as Vanessa has already suffered one gruesome injury during rehearsals, as Brendan accidentally sliced her back with the blade of his skate.

And not long after, Brendan was in a hospital dash after hitting his head on the ice.

He told Daily Star at the time: “I was on the ice and I took my mind off what I was doing for a second. I turned — and that’s the last thing I remember. I was taken to hospital and ended up with a concussion. When I realised what had happened, I was horrified.

“It’s injuries akimbo. You get skates across your shins, bleeding and bruising.”

He added: “What happened made me realise you have to be 100% focused when you’re on the ice.

“The moment you switch off, you make silly mistakes. It has been a great learning curve.

“It made me think, ‘Don’t do that again, as this is really dangerous’. The other day I was on the ice and had 20 minutes left of my training session, but I knew I was running out of steam and could start making mistakes.

“That’s dangerous, especially when you’re doing it with a partner and their safety is your responsibility.”
