Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen pens tribute to premature son who weighed three pounds

Amanda Owen had fans in tears as she penned an emotional tribute to her son, who was born 10 weeks premature and weighed just three pounds when he was born.

Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda, 47, shares an incredible nine children with her husband Clive – aged five to 20, while Clive also has two children from his previous marriage.

And all her kids enjoy getting stuck in on the farm – although she has encouraged them all to “run away” from Ravenseat.

But it was her son Reuben who Amanda paid a sweet tribute to on Instagram, as she posted a picture of her 17-year-old son with an arm around his mum as he pointed a thumbs-up at the camera.

Amanda could be seen bundled up in a green waterproof coat with her brunette locks tucked into a ponytail for the sweet shot, while Reuben could be seen in his work uniform.

Amanda captioned the snaps: “Reuben towering above me! From just over 3lb and 10 weeks premature to 6ft 6 in.

“From small acorns mighty oaks grow.”

And her fans were quick to comment, with fellow star Julia Bradbury posting: “I remember when that acorn was born!”

Another fan chimed in: “Reuben is a lovely young man, loved seeing him on TV last night, a credit to you and Clive as are all your children.”

“I feel sure that if we could just put Rueben in charge of running the country, everything would be okay!” someone else wrote with a thumbs up emoji.

A fourth person echoed: “You must be so proud of all your beautiful children! An absolute credit to you!”

The post comes after Amanda warned her kids to “run” from the farm, which she admitted can make her feel as though it’s her “against the world”.

Speaking on Times Radio, Amanda admitted: “You do sometimes feel like it’s you against the world.

“We’ve had storms and I’ve been wading through the snow which was up to my waist over the last few days.

“Yes, four days without power isn’t ideal but it gives you a new sense of appreciation of the humble lightbulb.”

But Amanda added of her kids: “I think they all should run. I think they should run and then, a bit like a boomerang, they will all come back.

“I think that is part of life and at no point have I ever said, ‘This is the be-all and end-all.’

“What they take away from the farm are proper life lessons and they learn empathy, kindness, hard work and common sense and that is a perfect starting point to everyday life wherever you should choose that to be.”
