Emmerdale fans are set for a jaw-dropping Christmas storyline, as the iconic Woolpack pub is set to explode in a jaw-dropping twist.
In recent weeks, avid viewers of the soap have seen Al Chapman put his dastardly plan in place to turn the country pub into luxury flats, having already succeeded in becoming a partner in the business.
But will this Christmas Day inferno mean his plans go up in smoke, and Chas and Marlon get their pub back eventually – or will their livelihoods be destroyed forever?
Speaking of the explosive new storyline, producer Kate Brooks said: “It’s not just the Woolpack that goes up in flames on Christmas Day, as secrets and lies explode, ripping through the lives of some of our much-loved villagers and making it a Christmas they’ll never forget”.

However, with the Woolpack being on-screen for an incredible 49 years, it isn’t likely it will remain out of action for long. And when it does eventually rise from the ashes, who will take their place behind the beer pumps – and could we be in for a change of ownership?
Fans can look forward to a hour-long special episode on Christmas Day from 7pm – and every moment looks to be action packed.
It isn’t yet known whether anyone will perish in the explosion, but it could definitely happen, as the pub has had its fair share of tragedy over the years.

The pub saw the untimely death of Tricia Dingle in 2003 when a lightning strike caused its chimney to collapse – and in 2013, Cameron Murray took hostages at gunpoint as the cellar flooded in dramatic scenes.
That isn’t all the Woolie has managed to recover from – the pub burned down back in 1998 when a candle was left burning, and suffered damage in the 1993 plane crash.
It has also seen a fair few landlords and landladies in its time, from its first owner Amos Brearly to Emmerdale favourites like Diane Sugden, Jimmy and Nicola King, and Bernice Blackstock.

When Emmerdale first began filming way back in 1972, real-life pub The Falcon Inn in Arncliffe was used for filming, before exterior shots moved to Esholt and The Commercial Inn.
That pub later officially changed its name to The Woolpack in real life, and draws tourists from around the country who travel to see the Emmerdale legend.
Now Emmerdale uses pub exterior sets in its purpose-built set at Harewood, and has done since 1998.
