Piers Morgan emotional as he quits another job in major career move after GMB storm-off

Piers Morgan was left emotional on Sunday after quitting yet another job in journalism.

The ex-Good Morning Britain presenter notoriously stormed off set of the ITV show live on-air earlier this year following a row about Meghan Markle.

Controversial broadcaster Piers became synonymous with his row with weather presenter Alex Beresford, which led to him leaving the show on-air and later quitting altogether.

But now he has gone a step further and left behind his writing job with the Daily Mail, where he was a columnist for an incredible 15 years.

Taking to Instagram, Piers shared a snap of his final newspaper column, the headline of which read, rather aptly: “Goodbye – and thanks for putting up with my humongous ego!”

Piers captioned the post: “Dear Diary: The End.

“After 15 [years], my final column for the Mail on Sunday before I head off to new literary and TV pastures.

“Celebrities of the world can relax, their secrets are now (almost) safe with me again…”

Piers has already announced his new career move, as he will be moving over to The Sun to write a newspaper column while taking up a broadcasting job with News Corp in a global TV deal.

And celebs might not be able to relax for long, as Piers looks set to make his epic return to the showbiz sphere pretty soon.

His fans and former co-stars hopped into the comments section to comment on his latest career move, with his ex ‘TV wife’ Susanna Reid posting: “Honoured that my teddy-knees made the cut!” – referring to a joke at her expense on Have I Got News For You.

Another fan wrote: “Ah no, I looked forward to that column every Sunday! I even resented it when you’d go away on holiday and didn’t write one.”

“Best of luck!” someone else penned, as another fan posted: “Looking forward to the new gig!”

It isn’t the most explosive way Piers has quit a job

“Nooo can you at least put out one more diary book? Please, pretty please!” a fifth begged.

Speaking of his move to News Corp, Piers said earlier this year: “I’m thrilled to be returning to News Corp, which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago.

“Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together.

“I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.”
