Love Island star Demi Jones is finally cancer-free after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer earlier this year.
The 23-year-old first received news about her cancer in May 2021 and had to remove a tumour from her neck as a result. She also underwent further treatment in September.
Taking to her Instagram on Monday afternoon, Demi updated her 1.2 million followers on her happy news.
Sharing a picture of herself outside Queen Alexander Hospital in Portsmouth, the TV personality penned: “I’M CANCER FREE!!!! I did it!”
She continued: “I got my full body scan results back and there’s not a single cancer cell left in my body.
“It’s been such a difficult year mentally and physically for me with my surgeries and treatment but I’m beyond grateful for everyone’s kindness and support over this past year.”
Demi also expressed that she will continue to raise awareness on cancer while giving her support to those who are battling with the condition.
She added: “I will continue to be an advocate for cancer awareness and all my love and strength goes out to those who continue to fight this awful disease, here’s to a healthy and happy 2022.”
Rushing to the comment section, fans couldn’t help but share their joy regarding Demi’s news.
One fan penned: “There she is.. the strongest and sweetest little lady on earth.”
Another said: “So happy for you!! You should be so proud of yourself, you’ve been an inspiration to lots of people.”
A third commented: “Demi this is the best news I have heard all day, you are the strongest person ever and I’m so glad I get to support someone as amazing as you are! Demi will be taking part in Strictly the Real Full Monty which will air on ITV on Monday night.
The programme aims to raise awareness on cancer and encourage viewers to get checked.
Previously speaking to Daily Star and other associated press at the Full Monty round table, Demi expressed that her cancer is often a “dark cloud” that follows her.
However, the star also said she tries her best to remain positive throughout.
