Many viewers weren’t sure who the celebrity guests, leading to an awkward flood of Twitter comments during the show as fans tried to work out who the players were.

A fourth user said: “They could say this was a civilian The Chase and I genuinely wouldn’t know the difference.”

A fifth added: “You don’t have to be a celebrity to go on the celebrity Chase.”

Although many fans didn’t know who the players were, they managed to win an epic sum of money from The Dark Destroyer at the end of the game – £116k.

That meant the team had the chance to win a massive amount of money for their chosen charities, and all four players made it back to their teammates.

In a nail-biting Final Chase, Shaun nearly caught the team, but he was beaten with just two seconds on the clock.
